In order to do engage in true social justice work, we first have to dive deep into identity work. You cannot fully show up for your students and your school community from a place exhaustion and/or fear. Fear is part of what is maintaining the system we have. Nothing will change if we continue to function this way. And you can't go on being too exhausted to live your best life.
The For Teachers: Diving into YOU retreat is for anyone who is ready to go deeper into the journey of identity work, specifically as it relates to liberating yourself in order to decolonize our school systems. You'll experience guided exploration that will give you the confidence to understand yourself better in general and as the lead reader and writer of young people, to take a critical look at yourself and your practices, to understand how to harness the power of mentor texts, and to infuse social justice into your teaching. And you'll connect with other people who are doing this work. It's possible for this to be fun, joyful, and fulfilling.
This is a three-day VIRTUAL retreat held via Zoom. You'll want to plan ahead of time and block off these dates and times so you can show up fully and have the best experience. This is not a webinar, this will be interactive and the group is intentionally small so we'll grow community and you'll have time to ask questions. You'll have direct access to me and the 19 years that I have spent in education and the 40 years I have spent on this planet as a mixed, first generation Latina woman and all that I have learned along the way. You will receive a copy of the slides as well as access to the recordings for you to review for 30 days after course completion.
Here are the dates:
Friday, April 2nd - 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST
Saturday, April 3rd - 10:00 am - 2:00 pm CST
Sunday, April 4th - 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm CST
After you payment goes through, you will receive an email with all the details within 24 hours. Make sure you celebrate once you've secured your spot! Throw your hands up, dance around the room, let out a woo because you just made an investment in yourself and it's sooooo awesome.
You don't need to be overwhelmed, tired, or stressed out.
We help you explore your story, embrace expansion, and live your best life.

After growing up in a very white space, working in a variety of roles in education, and navigating the querying trenches as a writer, I was overwhelmed, stressed out, and tired. Let's face it, the system isn't designed to see and celebrate our unique, complex selves.
From feelings of not fitting in and not being enough to embracing my Latinx heritage, writing from a place of vulnerability and authenticity healed my heart. It also allowed me to see how literacy and social justice go hand in hand. The power of story helped me love myself.
Exploring my story empowered me to embrace expansion and live my best life. Now I'm here to help you open your arms and step into your best life. Let me be your guide!
